Screenwriter and director of such celebrated short films asLlévame a otro sitio (2004),  En el hoyo (2006) and  Mañana no es otro día (2015). The first fiction film he wrote and directed, La vida era eso, premiered at the 33rdTokyo International Film Festival and in the Official Selection of the 17thSeville European Film Festival (ASECAN Award for Best Film and Best Actress Award to Petra Martínez). The film also won awards at the International Film Festivals of Liverpool (Best Film and Best Director), Marseille (Audience Award, Young Jury Award and Best Actress to Petra Martínez),Transylvania (Best Actress, again, to Petra Martínez) and at the Mediterranean Film Festival of Alexandria (Best Debut Film and Best Actress). It has also won awards at Abycine (Best Film) and at the New Andalusian Film Festivals of Casares (Best Director), Almería (2ndPrize for Best Film), Tudela (Equality Award) and Mérida (Young Jury Award). The film continues worldwide tourn after having been presented at such important international festivals as D'A (Barcelona), Washington, Malaga, Seminci and London. It will soon be presented in Rabat and at the Golden Rooster (China).

In addition, Petra Martínez has recently been nominated at the Forqué Awards. La vida era esois slated for theatrical release on December 10, 2021.
